My astra has a slight cluth judder first thing in the morning. Just for one or two engagements and then it seems fine. I found out that this is common on 2004>>>>> astras

I asked the all-knowing one and he told me that, despite Vx claiming it was faulty friction material, it was, in fact, the DM flywheel that was the problem. Armed with this knowledge, I phoned EH and actually got the service manager to admit it was the flywheel and he booked it in for next Tuesday. So far, so good.

Now, the problem:

The clutch judders just once or twice on cold mornings. I took it to Liverpool yesterday and York on Tuesday, it was good as gold.

On the astra site, two of the guys who had replacement clutched had a very bad experience ( ) On the first the Vx technician   put copper grease on the spline on the output shaft. This, of course, immediately contaminated the clutch plate (I can hardly write this for laughing). On the second, one of the drive shafts fell out after a few miles, the AA man said all four bolts were missing

So, do I put up with a very slight judder on cold mornings or do I let Vx have my car?

Oh and as for the Car sell the heap of crap and get an omega, PMSL, this is the man that told us how unreliable Omegas are

Correct, the Astra H only has one clutch and flywheel....

Been in plenty of car situations where I had a problem with my car and just lived with it. Then it had a knock on affect with other parts. Cost a fortune to fix it in the end. I wish I had fixed it when it first became a problem.

Problem I refer to was a set of warped brake discs on my Ford. There was a brake judder when applying the brake. Nearly a year later it needed new steering rack, new shocks, new steering column joint, new brakes, new wishbones. I’m unsure if they were on their way out anyway but no way to know for sure.

Let them have it while it’s under warranty. Clutch judder..... I can just imagine it wearing out gearbox bearings, etc...

If you DON'T have it fixed, and in 6 months time the clutch/gearbox/engine(?)  fails, then they can easily say that YOU caused the problem by running with a known fault, and so side step the warranty leaving you with a large bill.

Get it done by them, if they do it wrong, they'll have to fix it a second time ...

even its not fixed it must be legally recorded that you inform them about the fault on time..

and you have to have a signed paper in your pocket showing the date and problem..

Yes they are different, different clutch and DMFW were released by Gm at the end of 2007 with a new part number that superseded the old ones.

The parts were on back order but are now a bit easier to get.
