CCR 2006 problem

Hi there

Im getting no left speakers at all on my Bose/CCR2006 system, unless i pull the front panel off the unit slightly!

It looks like theres been an issue with it before, as the panel comes off quite easily, and i can see where the miltipin connector thingy attaches with the main unit.

The weird thing is, if its pressed on tight all the buttons work but no left speakers, pull it out slightly and the speakers come back but then you cant use the volume on the unit etc! Its almost like the front panel is shorting out the speakers, the unit doesnt move though, so i dont think its an issue with the connections on the back.

Any ideas, or worth just swapping for another unit, i would prefer the 1 cd/changer version anyway, i presume fleabay is the answer? Would like to keep stock look, unless aftermarket would be cheaper?

If front panel has been ripped off at some point, getting a good connection between front panel and unit may be inconsistent.

I can remove the front panel completely with the unit on and it works fine, sounds great actually and you can use the steering controls for most things :)

Im guessing theres an internal fault thats causing the left speakers to short out when the panel is pushed all the way in, i think i may just yank it out and send for repair, i believe theres a recommended guy on here that does them?

Dave DND is recommended. Not sure what the repair costs would be, sure he'll advise.

 Wire coat hanger works, with some suitable cutting. Make sure you cut it after removing the missus' favourite dress, though... ;)

Not so good on the Vx double din units - they are so tight in the cage that they need the keys to pull the unit out.

 Ah, mine's been previously in and out more than once, so it popped out nice and easy. Ahem.  8-)
