Factory Stereo & CD multichanger swap
« on: 12 August 2009, 19:07:48 »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what model of stereo is fitted to the Mig's that has a CD player & changer unit built into the same unit ?.

I have a Mig CD spec, and wondering if the CD player & changer can simply be swapped over, as in plug & play, or if there's a difference in the wiring loom ?.

Thanks.

If you have a CD model, it will be a CDR2005

If that is the case, a CCR2006 is a plug-and-play swap (assuming its configured correctly, else it needs a chat with a Tech2

Yes I have done the same, that is fitted the CDR2006 which has the CD changer below.
I swopped it for my single CD one.
No wiring alterations just plug and play. You do need the cage for it to slide into, although I adapted my cage to suit with the one already there.
BTW this was in a Facelift model dash, don't know about earlier models.

Thanks for letting me know chaps - Appreciated.

another question for you MickAP, how much did you pay for the 2006 then, as I don't want to pay over the odds if I can help it.
And don't suppose you know if you can get it in a silver colour can you ?.

Yes, CAR2006 was available in Silver, not sure if from Omega though, or one of the other Vauxhalls.

However, they all have the same connections on the rear, but avoid any with a BOSE logo on the fascia unless you are running a BOSE system

Take it then if my cars running a Bose system, then it should say on the front of the 2005 that I have in now then ?  :-? .
Any other clues if I have the Bose system fitted without ripping out the unit, ie Bose have / or haven't got certain controls that std system has ?.

Fairly sure you wont have BOSE if running the 2005

Extra subs and an amp are the usual giveaway.

Thanks for the info.  Not big on ICE, nor electrics, so wanted to make sure before get one.

Just to be sure though which is it CCR2006 or CDR2006, as couple of post have had different letters before the 2006 number  ? :-? .

I'm after the CD player that has the single slot player, but with the built in x4 disc (think its x4 anyhow ?) below the unit, there was a pic on the OOF with someones stereo, but I can't seem to find it ?.

CDR2006 is the single disc version.

CCR2006 and CAR2006 are both cassette with 4 disc changer built in.

All of those mentioned above are plug and play.

I suspect the unit you may be looking at of a single disc with 4 disc changer is one of the telematic units, and as such may be prohibitively complex to install due to the amount of extra equipment, displays and wiring to support it.

Looks like I was looking at a picture of a Telematic unit then, and if it's going to be as put it "Prohibitively complex" to install, think I'll have to drop this idea then  :-/ .  I'm not that brilliant with basic electrics, so taking on something complex wouldn't be in my scope at all.  :'( .

Thanks for letting me know though, appreciated.

I paid £100 for mine, bought it from a forum member.
They pop up for sale from time to time on here, but you have to be quick they soon sell.
Sold my single slot CD radio via here as well so made some money back on that.
