Aircon on 2.0
« on: 12 September 2009, 14:09:10 »

I have just noticed my aircon doesn't seem to come into play.I have check the fuses, switch and these seem fine. What i have noticed is the plate on the outside of the  compressor,i believe this is the clutch and doesn't move with the engine running, switched on or not. With the engine turned off i can turn the plate but on turning this sounds a bit gritty like it hasn't been used for a while. As im going to Italy next month i would like it working.Any ideas or pointers.

Remove elec plug from compressor.  Connect the 2 pins on the compressor direct to a 12 volt battery (maintaining correct polarity) - you should hear a distinct clunk as the clutch engages.  No clunk=compressor clutch breaked - you will need to swap compressor  :(
