I can't say that we ever fitted any with two heat settings, dude, just a single on/off switch, relay, some wire and spade terminals - didn't know they did owt else, to be honest!
Your plan sounds cool - I really don't know if it's the + or - that's switched though...you'll have to suck it and see.
Good luck - and remember to get a few fuses to hand..... ;)

Just bought (another!) Elite but the drivers heated seat doesn't work :( I've tried to have a look underneath to see if a; we've got any juice coming out the loom and b; to test the heating elements for continuity. Is there a knack to this? I don't really want to unbolt the seat just to test the wiring. There seems to be a plastic box underneath with some plugs/sockets wiring leading away but I guess this is the movement motor control? Anybody got any pointers? Thanks.

The plastic box is the control unit for the memory seats - nothing to do with the heaters.

See my previous comments about Elite seats. To get them working again isn't easy and you run the risk of hot spots.

The only surefire way (pardon the pun) is to get a working cloth (NOT Elite cloth) seat and transplant the elements into the Elite ones.

The first time you do it its probably a full days work  :-?

And of course you cant use the car whilst the drivers seat is out and you run the risk of side airbags being disconnected and triggering the airbag warning light!

Sorry to paint a negative picture, but its not an easy one.

No side airbags on my car so that's one less problem to worry about! Sounds like, as you say, for some replacement heater pads and a quick stripdown (well, maybe not so quick) I've had Recaro seats apart in the past (Monza GSE seats) so I can guess what to expect.

Annoyingly, it's coming up for that time of year that you need heated seats (especially with leather) and it's the wrong time to get a seat out of a car and rebuild it!!! C'est la vie :(

Just had a thought, someone close to me is breaking a CDX with black leather seats. Would it be possible to mount the CDX seat on top of the Elite adjustable frame and make a good seat from the two?

Just a thought...
