Dodgy idle
« on: 04 December 2009, 20:50:01 »

I put a new engine in the car 4k ago. Its been running well but yesterday it developed an eratic idle. it'll idle normally then drop to almost nothing. Sometimes it picks up andother times it stalls. As I've replaced the DIS, EGR and ECU I'm thinking TPS. Is this a known fault?

TPS problems seem rare on Omega from what I've (not) seen on here.  I had one apart off our 2.0, and was quite impressed with the ruggedness/good design of the innards. Changing it for another made no difference to stalling problems.

As Tunnie suggests, ICV cloggage may be your problem, as may breather blockage (which was causing this fault on ours).  I'd also echo his advice to apply the paperclip as a first step.
