Another Alarm Problem
« on: 03 January 2010, 18:51:52 »

Hi there all, good new year to you all,
My father has a 52 plate 3.2 elite Saloon and has recently started having problems with the alarm going off when he has got in the car and closed the door. Could this be the power sounder as he has checked for the bonnet sensor being bent down. thank you in advance,
Gary.

Hi mate, sounds like the power sounder - mines started doing the same. It's a pain in the butt at 6am when you've just got in the car and it's blaring away, even though you've already started the engine!  ::) .If it was the alarm going off proper you would get the alarm horn AND the power sounder - power sounder on its own is likely the batteries on their way out.
Three options spring to mind - disconnect  it (there's a how to, but it can affect your insurance as it is part of the factory fitted security device), replace it (£35 upwards) or repair it (some members have opened them up and replaced the batteries).
I've also seen on the forum of water getting into the power sounders and causing damage due to blocked drains on the scuttle - mine was wet, but not opened it up to see if there was any ingress yet (to cold/snowy/wet!)  :y

Yep !   Unplug the Power Sounder...wouldn't mind betting the problem will be solved.
