Indicators illuminated, and batterylight came up
« on: 15 February 2010, 21:22:49 »

Hi got an omega 2.0 dti, the batterylight is on, and the eml is on, and i cannot communicate with the ecu.
after troubleshooting i come up with that its a short somewhere between the d+ and the instrument.
Trouble is as follow:
Dynamo dont charge, there is a short on the d+ line. When i hotwire the d+ to + on the battery, the indicatorlights on the left side illuminates.
Last owner described that suddently the left indicator illuminated, and then it came smoke from the instruments...
Anyone had a problem like this??

Have you had the instrument panel out to look? Check the wiring behind the dash and the flexi-PCB on the back of the instruments.

Anyone have a good wiring diagram that shows how the d+ line runs from the alternator to the dash?

Problem was the aux heater, it is on the same line as the d+
Heater ecu was shorted out, jamming the k-line to the ecu, also creating a ground that disabled the generator from getting its d+
