I'll bear this in mind.
Although I don't think I'll smoke the HU since all it will ever do is give signal to the amp via the speaker lines. As for the volume control, it seems the same. But I can only speak for my installation and I could be wrong. I'll definitely let you guys know if things go south on the HU.
The original head unit was around 8 Watts per channel and had a very narrow "range" of control due to the BOSE amp having a very limited and set range of inputs. By connecting up a high power head unit (remembering a 40W head unit is 400% more input power than the BOSE amp was designed for) and the first thing that will probably blow is the input stages of teh amp, followed very quickly by the output stages of the Kenwood as they will see an instant short circuit.
Hopefully, you will be stationary when this happens, as it can fill the car with thick smoke at a very alarming rate making pulling over and evacuating the car dangerous in traffic and at speed.
Listen to what everybody here on the forum says:
Dont mix BOSE and aftermarket stuff together.
