Hazzard lights & indicators don't work now !
« on: 30 May 2010, 18:27:40 »

Hello, can anyone help trace an electrical problem please.

I've gone and changed my wooden looking centre console surround (radio & a/c unit) for colour coded one.

I disconnected the battery before starting any electrical work, and everything went fine, apparently so.
Because when I put everything back together, the hazard switch doesn't switch on the hazards when the engine's running, and when the engine’s off, pressing the hazard switch results in the dash lights coming on as if I've put the key in to the ignition side, before switching the actual ignition on without a key in the barrel, and if left the car with spanner light starts to flash.
Also my indicators don't work either ?.

Can anyone help with what's gone wrong or what I've done, as I didn't think swapping the console over would cause this headache, as I thought it wasn't rocket science ??.

Help !!!!!!!  :-[

I`d be looking for either a trapped wire or a screw that has inadvertantly gone through a loom somewhere

Retrace your steps carefully, testing as you go along

Thanks both for replying.

I take it then you've got caught out with this problem yourself with regards to the switch plug ?.
I'll have a look tomorow to see if that's the problem, hope it's something as simple as that, as I'm not going to be happy if I have gone and damaged the loam wiring itself  :-?.

Well indeed it was the fact the the hazard switch plug was upside down.  Once changed over, all is back to normal now.  Thanks  :y

So there's one problem for all to be aware of if your taking the plugs off when doing any maintenance behind the console !  ::)
