Omega B Interior light with motion sensors and map
« on: 01 November 2010, 16:06:53 »

Heys guys.

Was wondering if someone could help me with wiring comming from the interior light of an Omega B, it has build in motion sensors, map light and mic.

I have the wiring loom but need to know where the colors go to.

1 grey/black
2 black
3 blue/red
4 green/brown
5 red/yellow
6 red/blue
7 brown
8 red

Hope someone can help  :)

IIRC:
1. grey/black. goes to central locking/alarm ecu. probably for door contacts.
2. black. power feed from ignition, via fuse box, fuse 15.
3. blue/red. speed signal.
4. brown/green. microphone. to telephone module.
5. red/yellow. to passenger airbag. (child seat warning?)
6. red/blue. motion sensor to central locking/alarm ecu.
7. earth.
8. power feed from battery, via fuse 12

If you have book of lies, the wiring diagram is imho reasonably accurate. I've used it to navigate my way around the loom on my mig whilst removing remnants of plod wiring.
Will consult when I get home and update above list tonight. :y
If no one beats me to it, that is ;D

Above is from book of lies and refers to later models, not sure on definition of later models though. :-/
Earlier ones don't have side airbags shown in the diagrams, 4. is green and 5. is yellow/red and could not find green/brown, although brown/green wiring seems to have been used every where from speaker cable to the autobox. :-/

Think biggest differences for facelift cars are: main window switch is on doors, not console, and 2.6/3.2 are fbw, so have different engine wiring. :-/

HTH :y

P.S. I expect to be corrected where needed, thanks in advance.  ::)

Very helpfull forum indeed ;)

Odd thing is I canīt get the map light to work

Red connected to constant 12V
black to Ignition 12V
brown Earth
and grey/black door switch
How can that be ? I even have to of the light thingies, same with both of em.
Lights for the doors work great, just not the map light.

The main light has to be OFF for the reading lights to come on.

I had the same problem when i went to fit a light with motion sensors, map lights wouldn't work. Didn't realise at the time that there was 2 types of interior lights, with motion sensors and without. Got a light without motion sensors and and the map lights work as they should. My car being ex-plod doesn't have an alarm system so it looks likely one with motion sensors needs the rest of the alarm system working aswell.

Don't have that problem with mine jimbob. Is your loom intact all the way up the n/s screen pillar?
Would have thought if the light unit has power to it the map lights should work as they share the same feed? :-/
Motion sensors will only be effective if alarm system is working. Might be worth checking that the wiring matches up on both sides of the plug. ie same number/order of wires on lamp unit and plug.
My car has sunroof wiring even though it has no sunroof, so it stands to reason that if you can account for the wires that plug into the light unit, (poss more than 1 plug), then the issue is perhaps the fuse/bulbs/switch. :-/

Well i tryed with both lights, none of them works with map light, if i fit my old light that has map light but no motion sensors it works fine.

The ide was to emplement my viper alarm with sensors in the light, so there is no solution to getting the map light to work in the light with the motion sensors ?
Might 1 of the other wires also give a feed to the map light ?

Ignition on and door closed?

Should only be fed from ignition feed? :-/
