Flat battery
« on: 25 April 2011, 13:13:54 »

Hi all,
Came to start the beast this morning and....flat battery. Never had any problems in the past, drove onto the drive two days ago and gave it a severe jet wash. ;)
Have not started it since, but this morning I put the key in and all I got was dim door lights and a continuos clicking from the tailgate :(
Could water ingress the tailgate as I noticed that the seal around the wiper is pushed in a bit. Could this short out and deaden the battery ? Or is it possible for water to get in behind the bonnet and cause problems. ? I have put it on charge and hope this brings it back :(

I think the car will kill any interior lights left on by mistake - you could start pulling fuses for wherever you think the problem lies and see what you can eliminate that way?

Thanks for suggestions chaps.... :y
No lights were left on (i think as stated the car kills stuff like that) :y
Strange thing...I remembered I had a starter pack in the garage, connected it and bingo..... all the dash lights cam on brightly, flicked the key and it turned over like the clappers and started immediately.
Lights all bright as a button, and all has been first class since.
What was strange when the battery was flat, was the tailgate motor chattering like mad, even when the key was taken out of the ignition......did it for ages. Went indoors for the key to the Renault, and it was still chattering when I came back out :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?
I think this is gonna be one of life's mystery's ;)
