Climate Control Problem
« on: 17 May 2011, 21:45:10 »

Hi everyone. I hope I'm posting in the right section so here goes.

Im posting on behalf of my Dad who has a 2000 facelift Omega estate.

He has recently had a new radio fitted into the car and since then the climate control in the car doesn't seem to be working properly. all the vents on one side of the car only seem to blow cold air despite the temperature setting and the vents on the other side work as they should do.  Before he had the radio fitted everything seemed fine.

I was just wondering weather something has been disturbed wiring wise on the climate control panel when the radio was fitted or could there be a fault elsewhere in the system? :-/

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the site...

Usually when one side of the car does not respond to the temperature controls it's to do with the heater box, the rods linking the servos to the flaps become detached.
However in this case I'd be inclined to check the connections at the rear of the climate panel, they need pushing home very firmly if they have been removed, which is likely due to the new stereo being fitted and the lack of room behind the dash on an Omega...

Can you not just take the car back to whoever fitted the stereo?

Cheers for the reply. My Dad fitted the radio himself so I'll have a look with him this weekend and make sure they are connected properly.

Hi Dave! I had the same problem, but in my case the heating flap had been frozen and the linkage had come off. Sounds like someone has dislodged the linkage when they fitted the radio. See my post.
