alternator voltage went sky high omega 97 2.0

 dash board lights lit up like a christmas tree and every warning light came on ! voltage across bettery 25volts new alternator fitted still have some lights ON eg rh indicator ON display screen backlight ON dimmer for backlights not working has anyone else had this and do i just need to get my computer recoded or is there damage to my cpu?

Sounds like your wiring loom is fried to me...  :-/

Anything over 18 Volts will generally cause some damage to the electronics

I am yet to see an alternator on an Omega capable of delivering more than 18V even with the reg shorted out.

Do check the fuses etc are ok as the supply current to the ancillaries will have been signiicantly higher under the fault conditions.

Unlikely (not impossible if its been badly designed or buggered with) as the fuse rating should such that it blows before the max I2T of the loom has been exceeded.
