my brakes squeek but no warning lights any idea what the problem is

Mouse trapped behind pedal ???  :)

On a more serious note ... non Vx pads are known to squeak, and some folks have had limited success by filing a chamfer on the edges.

Genuine Vx ones come ready chamfered IIRC

.....sometimes a slighly warped brakedisc (running out of true) can cause squeaking as you drive along (even without brake-pedal being used).

a little bit of copper grease on the BACK of the pads might help.

As a temp cure you can give them a blast of brake cleaner, but it will only last a week or so...

As others said, file a 45 degree edge on the leading and trailing edge of pads, and a little copperslip in pad backings...

or take the cheap pads out lob them in bin and fit decent ones !! :y
i fitted a set of ebc redstuff pads earlier in year and they have just started to squeek !! they might end up in ! £50 n all !!!!! >:(
