Talking about road tax (in the other thread)
« on: 16 March 2008, 21:01:43 »

I read an interesting article today in Sat's paper (didnt get time to read it sat) that the government are desperately trying to raise cash for the 2012 Olympics to cover their arses........interestingly it was suggested that these new road tax bands are for revenue to help pay for it.......also was suggested the LCC increase was another way to gain income......the scrapping of lpg vehicles from exemption is a complete contradiction......the new low emissions zone in london is another example of desperately trying to raise cash......£100 or £200 a day if your a HGV....

BTW Kevin i remember you saying you use the back roads into Heathrow......the main spur road off the M4 to Heathrow is covered by the low emissions zone.......but unpublicised so is the back way.....i went to T4 yesterday......and saw the zone signs as I came off the M25......so for HGV's going to Heathrow...it doesnt matter which way they go

Interesting. They seem to be getting wise these days. They put almost as much effort into closing loopholes as they do into figuring out new ways to tax us.

It'd suit me down to the ground if they cancelled the Olympics, TBH. <terribly sorry old boy, I am a little tired>
