We are talking 1000s of an inch when skimming heads not inches...

I am also interested how cam timing wont be accurate when there are two idlers that will take a little extra slack?

Personally Chris I reckon its up in the air at the minute, so I would strip it down to see what the problem is, then go from there.

^ This is right, could have a hair line split up the cyl?

I think I may have got it wrong re cam timing (not sure where I got that from,but seem to remember reading it somwhere) :-\
Have seen it posted several times (by MarkDTM and TB iirc) though,that V6 heads very rarely need skimming,and if they do it can only be a very light skim due to the fact that the inlet and coolant bridge will no longer line up.
