My Watford ROM board went the way of the power sounder due to the rechargeable battery leaking all over it, sadly.

I have run AVG twice and Malwarebytes and CCreg cleaner and PC seems OK. The first AVG found and zapped a couple of things which may just have been a coincidence.

I wonder how many people even dumber than me fall for this?

Presumably the scam plants either a virus that is hard to clear without their sister companies paid for help OR they suck any bank passwords etc that you may have on your machine somehow? We have changed all our passwords on a new Internet session so should be OK.

It's anyones guess as to how they got your name and phone number but by going on the Logmein site and typing in what they wanted, you'd basically give them free access to your PC. They can go to town and look at whatever they want. Unfortunately things like this will get companies like Logmein a bad reputation. In reality they run a very good and useful service. Used it many times myself.
