NCDC 2013 Battery Drain

Hello,

I have a NCDC 2013 which my auto electrician informs me is draining my battery.

The SatNav never worked from my getting the car and the unit would simply eject any disc placed into it.

When the battery was flat the unit would make noises as if it was trying to eject a disc.

The CD Multi-Changer was removed from the car's boot to allow a LPG tank to be fitted. It was never replaced.

Is a battery drain from the unit common?

Is there anyone in the North East you can recommend with regards its repair?

2013 doesn`t come with a boot mounted CDC ???

Sorry, I presumed it did. The LPG conversion was done before I purchased the car and I assumed that it had a multi-changer in the boot.

The 2013 is currently out of the car to see if the battery drain is cured.

I do not know who to take the unit to to let them have a look?

Any help would be great.

I've never heard of a standard NCDC unit draining a battery.  Assuming the the unit and wiring are original and have not been messed around with, I would be very surprised if the unit was causing your battery drain problem.

That's what the auto-electricain said.

When he removed the unit he said the drain stopped!

Doesn`t mean thats where the drain is, just something that was kept alive by stereo when fitted.

Comments about unit functionality make me wonder if head was retro - fitted correctly, or you do not have a wiring fault - as very unusual for that model of head to drain

CD Changer is built into the head unit  :y

Any car kits fitted? That could also be cause, as once the H/U was removed it lost its power source?

Have you tried disconnecting the alarm powersounder under the front scuttle?

A favourite for battery drain !!

Have gone to another auto electrician. He states that there is no drain????

He has plugged the unit back in and tested again to find no drain!

How deep do the 4 screws that you tighten with an allen key go into the Unit's holes?

I plan to see if it drains again?

Never seen one cause drain.  In fact, CD lasers aside, and brittle facias when ham fisted idiots remove them, its quite a reliable unit.

Only item that I know of that can cause a current drain in the Infotainment devices chain is a CID screen if it doesn't turn off due to a faulty HF car kit being fitted / improperly removed.

Spoke to a guy yesterday said his telematics was draining the car battery. Not sure how it was diagnosed, but said it was telated to the sos button. Not that the op has one of those. :-\

I thought they stayed on with the multitimer anyway... Never really looked TBH.
If it's a stuck SOS button I bet he / she is popular with the emergency services!

My CID screen is fine.

What I did notice was that the radio on/off switch is now illuminated when lights are on. Off when off as it should be.

This was not the case before removing and re-fitting the unit.

Perhaps this removal and re-fitting has somehow solved the problem?

Going to keep an eye on it and report back.
