Though it does mean I'm going to have to invest in some specialist tools (dial gauges and the like) and find a reputable machine shop in the area :)

P.S. I don't suppose you fancy helping rebuild a V8? ;)

I'd be happy to help where I can. What needs doing to it?

I've used Roe Engineering in Fleet before and been very happy. It's a proper "use the old pistons as ashtrays" type outfit but you can walk in there with an engine in bits (well, stagger, I guess, if it's a V8) and they'll happily give advice on what desperately needs doing, what's advisable and what's not, etc.

So is it possable to run a supercharger while keeping the rest of the air system standard?

i.e keeping airflow meter "bagpipes" etc

but obviously modding pipework to fit a intercooler as a supercharger will generate some serious heat
ive seen on youtube a car that still has all the original equipment fitted & looks like its running ok...

or will the motor run too lean at high revs??

im good at mechanical making things fit etc but no goot at wiring, sensors etc

will it work.... on basic turms.... S-Charger/brackets/pully/belt/reroute air delivery pipework inc intercooler, manual dumpvalve/boost guage... ??? ?

looking at the video.. no.. there are some hand made parts ..  in any case he used low pressures to be safe..

and problem is, this engine is not designed to be a high boost race engine..

I have to find the right video on youtube because its not the ones posted above... i have a look later
its either that or fitting single/twin turbos (as a mate is making me some manifolds can mod for turbos) but again similar issues... as they will have to run low boost as not to distroy lump
but just feels like it need that extra kick up the arse if u know what i mean to get it going before it gets to 4000rpm when the MV6 cams kick in??

I have to pull it apart as soon as I clear some space in the garage and see what really needs doing; it may or may not need a hone (depending on whether the pistons measure out OK vs. the bores), the crank may need a regrind and/or new crank, oil galleries may need drilling out, gallery plugs tapping and fitting, then it obviously needs bearings, balancing and the top end putting back on again.

Hm, sounds so easy when I say it like that ;)

That sounds like the kind of place I'm looking for :) Ta!

Not sure I could stagger in with the block, though - it's a bit heavy to pick up alone ;D

Thanks :) I bought a trailer for this purpose though - although right now it has the 390 sitting in it in the back garden under a tarp (like a proper pikey ;D).. must attach the pikey bar to the car!

Mind, I picked the 428 up (albeit it's in several parts - crank & heads were off the engine, pistons and cam still in the block) in the boot of the Omega.. ;D It's just light enough for two to pick up - until you put the crank in, which weighs almost as much again!

Roe Engineering still around, I used to use them when I used to rebuild bike engines, many, many moons ago. Real nuts and bolts outfit, good attitude, good service.

Yep. :y No BS there. Used them for the Westfield's engine a few moons back myself.
