Central locking / key problem
« on: 17 February 2012, 00:09:26 »

I have used the search facility before asking (in case I get told off again, lol). It seems I might need to synchronize my key, but not completely clear how to, or if I need to.  :-\

One key had pierced case buttons. My wife uses her nails to press them, I think. So I fitted a new cover. While pulling the circuit board out the two battery solder joints came free. I re soldered them on, checking they are the right way around (+ve and -ve), using the other key as a guide.

The LED comes on when each button is pressed, so I'm guessing it should be ok?

When I try to open the car, it unlocks remotely, but it won't lock and the boot won't open either.

I removed the circuit board and tried it again, so I could confirm the red LED on the PCB came on still, with each button and it does. The 'open' button works with one flash of the LED, even if you keep the button pressed. However, the close button does not work and the LED flashes off and on as long as the button is pressed.

Any idea's?

Wife will be annoyed in the morning and have to use my Omega key!!  ::)

To re-sync your key is as easy as turning the ignition on, then press 'lock'. All doors should lock & them immediately unlock. However I suspect that your problem is due to a goosed 'lock' button inside your key fob .............. which would make synchronising your fob difficult.
Martyn Imber here on the forum should be able to help (IIRC he's just via eBay these days  :-\ )

Wow, that is a quick response, thank you.

I'll try that in the morning.

I don't think it is a button as they were all ok before. I fitted new buttons to my own Omega key and that  was quite an easy job. I'll try what you said and see.

Done what you suggested Andy and it worked.

The only thing is when I pressed the button with ignition on, the locks didn't move. But after taking the key out, all was ok.

That's strange, but as long as they now work!  :y
