I thought sidelights were there as a backup for when one of your dipped beams fails and you can't be @rsed to change the bulb (or you have to dismantle half your Renault to achieve it). According to about half a dozen cretins who I came across yesterday during the course of a 160 mile journey yesterday, anyway...

Others adopted another school of thought... Just adjust the remaining working light so it dazzles the break out of anyone coming the other way.

Basic issues that motorists should be pulled up on (and not just once a year at MOT).
