Just faster engine response, really. You might find slightly quicker acceleration in the lower gears, but the main reason to do it is to allow the engine revs to fall faster from the red line as you change up the gears, and for quicker response when "blipping" the throttle to match the revs on downshifts.

It won't affect engine braking or economy.

I was lead to believe that with a lighter mass of the flywheel, you gain engine braking???
Which I think is almost non existent on the Omega, well it is on mine anyway???

Silky smooth free revving equal balance 6 cyl makes it feel like that :)

MPGs may increase but not really noticably, just less turning mass on the engine etc, same as losing the air/con pump (no on)

Diameter would be the same, or the starter wouldnt work :)

Is it a straight swap then? It was the outer that I was referring to....
I need to do something as my DM is buggered! Clank, clank....

Also, I'm guessing the point of this mod is faster engine response, better engine braking and maybe impoved fuel economy???

Yes it was an straight swap. I don`t know the outer diameter..
Haven`t got the engine and the new flywheel in the car so i don`t know how it is going to work  :o
