dont believe in redistribution of wealth personally, just dont want the little that i do manage to earn to stay in my pocket rather than being taken by the chancellor, especially when so much of it seems to get wasted.

i could very well get flamed for this........in fact i am pretty sure i will, but hell, here goes.....

These people come to Britian for a number of reasons, 30/40 years ago this very same conversation was taking place, except that time we were referring to Asian/Chinese/Pakistan people, and again the complaint was that they were taking our jobs.

Thos guys grafted, as a collective they took a lot of crap from the british public, today some of the richest people in the UK are from that ethnic group, they just got on with it, they were focused and had something that a lot of people in the UK don't have today...........
a work ethic.

The poles, bosnians, russians, they are no different.

For example, i have a friend who runs a business, him, and two other guys, one is a immigrant, the other a local, they get paid the same money and do the same job, but the immigrant is there 30 mins before he needs to be and doesn't finish until he is told by his boss to go home, he is hard working, does an excellent job and  does it a lot quicker than the local who is always late, does a crap job and always finds someway to do as little as possible.

All they are doing is trying to live, i don't dispute that there are possibly too many in the UK today, but some of the people in the UK believe they have a god given right to have a job over these people, they don't, the job goes to the person who is best suited to doing it.

look at the jobs these people take? they are jobs that many others will not do, jobs that people consider menial, and they do them with pride, why? because they are making something of their life.

In 20 years time don't be surprised if we start seeing poles and bosnians on the rich list........

i feel for those who have lost out and are grafters, i have in the past, but market forces dictate who gets the work

i'll get me coat

I agree with alot of what you have said to be fair, plus I am sure I wont be the only one....
I dont want to get in a debate as I really dont know enough about the politics.
Like them or not (which I certainly do not) they look after there own, how many Old Pakistanis do you see in an old folks home?
A local nightclub shut down as it was over run with these Immirgrants trying to get off with British women  >:(

A guy i know got made redundant from Royal Doultons and had to sell his BMW. Two Immirgrants came with a £3000 cheque from the Goverment to buy his car. He told them to come back tomorrow after he had checked out if the cheque was legit......It was..... he was gutted that he had worked since school and had to sell his car only for some guy from another country to be given a cheque because it would be cheaper to do this instaed of paying taxi or bus fares :(

immagration isnt just about financial issues,or practical issues such as overstretched schools/hospitals/roads etc, there is also the issue of the culture and normally accepted way of life being changed.

Fair point there, but so many other cultures and ways of lives are changing as well.

I think that there is a lot to be gained from learning about other peoples culture, i am not say we have to adopt it, but if you understand the culture then you have a better chance of understanding the person.

Britain has changed, and the British were a big part of that change, first we created a commonwealth and if you lived within that commonwealth then you were allowed entry into the UK i believe, Europe is another version of that, except we no longer rule it in the same way we ruled the commonwealth, we have to accept others as equals, 200 years ago we were the dominant force, those times are long gone and will never return

just to balance things out here, i am not in outright support of people coming over here enmasse

If someone is to live in the UK then they have to abide by our laws, they have to fit into out society, running amok in a night club etc. is not what i would call acceptable, it may be in their country, if they wish to continue to live in that manner then it might be an idea to go back there

This may seem a bit far fetched but a friend of SWMBO works at a Job centre call centre. She is so frustrated of how the system works.

She  told us that any EU immigrant simply calls gives a name and address and asks to be given a NI number. Which they are given it seems without any kind of check.

They are then employable here in the UK and so go and get a job of which most of earnings is sent home.

They then phone again and simply use another name with their correct address, which it seems is not checked in any way, only to be issued with another NI number and proceed to claim the full range of benefits, no doubt including some form of housing, on which they live on over here.

And those benefits my Omega friends are taken from our hard earned wages >:( >:( >:(

Nuff Said !

I'll just add that the Job Centre now has specialist translators to help the many claimants that cannot speak.... Now whats that word...Oh yes  ENGLISH  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

and it is perfectly legal for an eastern european to live in this country and claim benefits for his wife and children who still live in the country of origin, because i suppose in reality we no longer live in england/britain/u.k. we live in europe and the only thing which could ever change any of this would be to withdraw.

Our friend also told us that If they bring their own car with them, it does not have to be taxed for a year...   is that right?

If so what about insurance and MOT ?

I had a colleague from overseas who brought his car with him and it had been a couple of years without anything. Not even sure if his insurance would have been valid but anyone he asked just shrugged their shoulders.

Convinced him to take it for an MOT and they wouldn't do it because the computerised system wouldn't take his reg. no.  :-/

No problem with speed cameras, of course.

So yes, you can get away with everything. I'm guessing that it would have to be legal in the country of origin and have been in the Uk less than a certain period of time, but there's clearly not enough co-operation between nations to check this.
