That's got me thinking about the cars I owned now.

1.1 Mk4 Escort D reg - 1.0 Fiesta Popular Plus F reg - 1.0 Mini Y reg - 1.0 Mini E reg I put a 1320cc Metro engine in and my word did it go well  ;D - 1.6 Rover 216 Gti K reg (spectacularly rolled that into a field) - 1.8 Orion J reg (130bhp version) nicked by scum - 1.8 Escort Diesel K reg - 1.3 Skoda Felicia P reg - 1.6 Astra V reg - 1.7 TD Astra Estate R reg - and finally the Omega.

I think possibly the worst car of the lot was that Fiesta. It was gutless, noisy, uncomfortable and was probably the most basic car I have ever owned. Even the radio was crap. Overtakes were a big no, I think it had a top speed of about 80 and that was with a tail wind and steep downhill.

Worst car I have had in terms of reliabilty was a Renalut Laguna 2.0 RXE. Within the space of 2 weeks, drive shaft, wheel bearing, air con, drivers seat and ligths broke or packed up. Was supremely comfortable though, even if a bit gutless.

In terms of dislike towards a car I can't really say I have hated any of them.

I had one of those. 3 door large spoiler one in pulsar silver. Crank went oval so put a 2.0 turbo engine in it from a tom cat. Loads of happy memories in that car :-)

I have had some crackers as i went through a stage in the 80's where i would never pay more than £100 for a car.

A 1969 Hillman imp was the worst, it used to break the accelerator cable once a month until i fitted a rally!!!! version, gear stick broke off in my hand when changing into second gear joining the motorway had to drive it for 20 miles in second, took me 7hrs to change the clutch as the bolts that held the rear panel on where seized and rounded off, in the end it blew the head gasket.

Austin Ambassador front wheel fell off on roundabout, hydrolastic suspension collapsed, took it into garage and they fixed the wrong side, as they could not tell which side was Broken it was that bad, also had to wedge three of the windows closed with wooden blocks.

Volvo 144, i bought this after it had been standing in a field for 4 months, steering wandered all over the place and you needed to be Popeye to turn the wheel, I left the grass growing out of the vinyl roof, took it for mot and the body had detached itself from the chassis, but what do you want for £25 and it was taxed.

Mini 850 van with windows in it and a homemade back seat, took me 11 hours from London to Manchester as I had to leave the M1 at Watford and use the A roads as it would not go faster that 50mph which meant I was stuck with the trucks and in torrential rain it misted up, the windscreen leaked and the wipers could not clear the rain away, I broke down on this journey but luckily it was only a wire that had come off the coil.

Another Mini (1964 version) in Australia, this was so good that I left it in the short term car park when I flew home, the most useful thing about it was the door pockets would hold ice and a six pack off beer, I also set the rear seat on fire with a discarded cigarette, but that was not the cars fault.

Happy days.

You have further reminded me about my 'adventures' in my 1960 A40 during 1971/2; and EVERY trip WAS an adventure, with me thinking "will I get home?" !!  Apart from the chassis being absolutely rotten (YES! It DID have an MOT!!), the clutch was slipping for over six months and in a strong (anything over 25mph) headwind the car was pushed backwards against its revving engine!  I was also stopped by the police on three occasions during a two month period for a 'spot check' due to 'old', 'bomb' like appearance of the car, but it passed muster every time much to the officers surprise; well they did not look underneath or tried to jack up the car!  That would have been a shock, with Daily Mirror's, Daily Sketch's and an odd Sun falling out of the sill!

Bloody wonderful days though with my boyfriend! Lizzie Zoom : :o :o    D ;D ;D

SWMBO had an Austin 1100 Auto !!!! Abso-bloody-useless piece of s****

I seemed to spend half my life keeping the gutless, noisy thing going - she was given it by a relative ... so it had "sentimental" value ???

Was I glad when the crap air-suspension finally collapsed and i could prove it was beyond economical repair ...
I loved these little cars despite the dodgy hydrolastic suspension. The 1300's were pretty nippy as were the 1300GT,s, but auto? not in a small car. Not much money now if you look on classic cars under Austin or Morris! :D

Ah the memories. My mum had a Morris 1100 & i remember my brother & i used to try to make her race beetles on the motorway.
It didn't have a radio, so we had a radio on the back shelf & it was my brothers job to keep it tuned in (i think it was a Roberts radio)
Went bloody miles in that
Same as waspy i had morris 1100 cracker little run about loved it but also had a lada when stationed in warminster and i liked that and before any body say it i do have some taste in cars

I've owned dozens of cars over the years, and I can say I've never really had a bad one.

My dad had one of them, rather awful thing.
The steering wheel broke off as he was driving it.
Good job he was only pottering round the streets.
