Hi,

I was in the process of removing the passenger wing to replace it with a non-rusty one.
When I took the wing off a fan fell out. It was not correctly connected to the pipe which follows the contours of the wheel arch.
Can someone tell me what this fan is used for? do I need it? And which way it is supposed to be facing when I put the wing back on?

Also is it the same scenario on the drivers side?

Blows cool air to engine ECU, nothing on driver`s side except S/L pump if you have it

Do I need it? I have read somehere that some cars have it some don't, so does this mean I can leave it off with no ill effects?
Not sure if it even works - guess the only real way to test it is to get the car 'hot' and see if it comes on.

almost certainly not needed in UK.

it's there to pull cooling air through the fusebox, which could be important in cars used in +40 degree heat with a constant solar load ( gulf states, USA, possibly Spain, Morocco, etc. )

it will also be important on UK days where the temperature goes into the 40s

When the car got over 90 degrees and the fans kicked in I always thought to myself that the fan was quite loud.
Always seemed like the sound was coming from the passenger side foot well.
Now I know that the fan sound was the Fuse Box fan.
