Yeah, she does a little ::) TBH, she's coming from some very good friends of ours and has good breeding. The litter of 3 pups are already house trained at 7 weeks, although there's still the odd accident, and starting to obey simple commands. Willow responds to her name 99% of the time already and when we visited again on Sunday she came straight out of the pen and over to me :y

Just got to let the cat stamp her authority on the pup as soon as we get her home and things should be OK :y

just let the cat see her and she will deal with willow, when my cat saw our black lab she looked, stormed out, couple of hours came back upstairs in to flat and alfie was sitting at the stair gate looking at the cat,as the cat walked passed him she swiped him across the nose and from that moment they got on really well, miss both off them as cat is the evil ex and had to rehome alfie  :(

That's the plan. SWMBO will come in and get the cat when we get home and I'll bring Willow in. Then they can fight it out :y

Well, Willow is home and settled in her crate :y Apart from a little poop before we even got out of their estate (our fault really, should have given her a bit longer) there were no accidents all the way home :y

I'll try and get some snaps soon but she's good at responding to her name and coming over when called :y Oh, and sits on command most of the time too ;)

Crate training is a fine thing, in my opinion.  Gives the hound a sense of privacy/territory where they can go without disturbance and stuff.  Mrs H21 made a cover out of blackout material which covered the crate for Jura at nightime (just like a budgie or parrot) which now that she is almost 4, is paying dividends as she knows when bedtime is and thus adjusts her day to suit ours.  That said, she no longer uses the crate and has the run of the house but early rules are now well fixed and understood...

Main thing I learned is that dogs cannot tell the time.  They cannot read clocks.

But they do read you and thus, do need regularity.  Little things such as daily routine and the order of progression around breakfast, morning piddle, settling for the day, daytime visits, my dinner forst then yours and similar.

You get the gist....

Fine looking dog, BTW.    :y

Here's a little snap of her today :y

I'm a pooped puppy! by lazydocker, on Flickr

Had a good night really considering it was the first night away from mum :y Perhaps it was slightly easier because her siblings left Thursday/Friday :-\ No poops all night and only a couple of little wees. She didn't even make any noise until about 6am. I waited until she'd gone quiet again before I came in and let her out into the garden to relieve herself :y Then she had her breakfast, went out again for 15 minutes or so and then settled down nicely :y

H21, the friends she came from recommended crate training very highly (she's a Veterinary Nurse) and wished they'd done it with all of theirs instead of just the last one, Pimms, who is Willow's mummy and still loves her little safe haven :y

She will, undoubtedly, have a very busy week this week and be very popular ::) The cat has already stamped her authority and given her a couple of swipes on the nose but is currently sulking under our bed ::) Although she did come out from there for a nice cuddle all night so I can't see there being too much trouble... She might sulk for a few days, which is what she normally does if we have dogs visiting, but will soon be out teasing Willow with her freedom I'm sure ::)

Been doing some basic training this morning in short sessions (never too early to learn!) and have already shown our potential and natural instinct to retrieve when we were playing :y She's fiercely loyal already though and doesn't stray far from our sides when in the garden. Can even move away from her and she'll follow and sit next to me again :y Looks like training might be easier than expected :y

Mike, that's a lovely picture! I'm hoping that I'll be posting something similar in the next few weeks with the 2 of our little girls curled up together :y
