Sprayed Instrument Panel
« on: 24 May 2012, 15:15:20 »

Ive just done this at work,

Aliminium base with a White Pearl with Blue flip as a top coat, topped off with a scratch proof high gloss laquer

Admitadly it wasnt having to destroy the clear lens and the outside rim dosent look pretty but once re-assembled it cover it and should look really good  :y ill keep this updated on my progress and maybe a very lengthy 'How-to' but it wasn't an easy thing to do  :-\ :(

Supposedly the owner doesn't have any children, who would leave their own foot- or palm-prints either on the carpet or on the windscreen... :) anytime I make a clean the clearness never takes longer than some hours and my iron is full of prints everywhere... ;D

Re: Sprayed Instrument Panel (update)

Right update on Silver Speedo Project are as follows After collecting the Instrument panel from Serek(thank you) i had to remove the clear lens with cracking or damaging the surface which is a lot difficult than i thought after different approaches and failing e.g. saw, stanley knife, sharp nice, heat etc. i finally managed a succesfull way of getting off, granted it was the most risky but if i had just pulled it off it would have cracked left right and centre.

My Succesfull approach was this A tiny flat head screw driver and a tiny hammer, and basically had to pinpoint where the clear goes into the black plastic then hit the hammer to crack the lens all the way round if your careful it will just crack the tiny lipped section of Clear plastic which is what you want, so after doing this all the way round Tadaa!, Shes off, what you need to do then is line the clear lens up to the sprayed instrument panel and see where the jagged clear meets jagged black trim off to its sits flat and glue together with a decent plastic glue, (put some weight on top of the Instrument Panel whilst glue is drying so it forces the clear into the black)

If you are going to attempt it remember to put the TID/MID clock buttons back in  ;D ;D :D :D

Im Now going to remove my existing Clocks to fit to the Silver then ill update with a picture once fully fitted to the Miggy!! :y

Here is the Unit with the Clocks in and the TID (MID Next project :y ) then ill spray the outside casing of that silver next week  :)

(Forgot to move my new Card lol)

Here the pictures after refitting to the Miggy

Love the Dice  ??? 8) :o ;D ;D ;D :D

What i intend to do now is remove the centre console wood and gearstick/handbrake wood surround as well as the door card trims and spray them the same colour (aluminium/white pearl with blue flip) to co-ordinate with the Instrument Panel ill upload some more pictures in the future to show you how it looks  :y :)

If you are going to attempt to do similar for god sake be carefull as its a very disconcerting having to break up two speedos to make one  :D ;)
