Scrap price of brass
« on: 25 May 2012, 10:47:39 »

Would anyone have any idea how much you get for scrap brass please. I know this annoys some people and I apologise for it. I would say this is perfectly legal brass, mainly old airline fittings (2 inch) and some old brass weights from a weight pan. It is not stolen. It is legally being removed during a refit of our facilty here.

I either put it in a skip or take it to a scrap dealer. total may be 20 kilos.

Thanks for any advice. Have tried google but is only coming up with prices from 2008 and it seemed to be worth nothing.

Yep, call the local recyclers as the price fluctuates a lot.

If you have any significant lumps then dont forget ebay, there are a lot of modelers out there who are always looking for brass etc to machine parts from.

"Ring the dealer" D'oh, why did I not think of that. It must be how much I think of you good people and your immense knowledge  ::)

Biggest bits is 1kg in weight and round. 94mm diameter and 18.3mm thick. But they have a slot in them to the centre approx 9.5mm wide and 50mm long. Could be usefull for small bit I suppose.
