Parrot fitting
« on: 06 June 2012, 08:16:37 »

My thanks to all those who helped with previous 12v ignition switched supply query for parking sensors.

I have now purchased a parrot CK3100 and thought it was a case of sitting the thing on my shoulder, and driving away? Seems I was mistaken. The kit arrived with a SAAB sot 109 lead which the supplier assures me is the correct one for a 2003 omega with 2006 ccr. The hand book for the parrot gives vague fitting instructions and shows a picture of 2 wiring harnesses. The picture shows one harness with a black oblong box with 3 mute wires, 2 black connector socket/plugs,and a line out, also pictured is a second twin fused harness with two connectors. The actual harnesses received do not correspond to the picture i.e harness one does not have 3 mutes just a single yellow/grey wire with male bullet on the end, the second cable is the one that has the 3 mutes female bullets.(picture shows them as male). Have I got you confused I certainly am,and an enquiry to Parrot has been ignored. I can only think that parrot have modified the looms and are still using an old hand book. Has any one recently installed one of these hands free and can tell me what to do in simple terms. I have removed the glove box and located the pre installed connector for the SOT to plug into.

Everything is a help RobG, but in this case not, I found further references from this lead and followed the discussions, which lead to other sites and more uncertain info. The Situation at the moment is I have installed the Ck3100,following all advice including checking for permanent and ign switched supply.  The CK3100 allows calls to be made using directory, and the recipient can hear me, but I cannot hear the recipient. The CCR 2006 HU which is without additional amplifier and speakers does not mute. Unless I have misunderstood Parrot they indicate there is no need to connect the mute wire as the blue box does the muting but it is not muting in this instant. So my query is do I connect the mute wire or not and if I do connect where do I connect to.  I have a yellow wire with grey tracer male bullet end coming from the parrot loom with black box, mutes 1,2,3, female bullets which parrot tells me are only suggested muting points coming from the loom with the fused power leads, Parrot also tells me to be careful how I connect these leads as I could kill the parrot or destroy the car which is the opposite of don't connect parrot does the muting and finally another yellow wire with a crimp end in the sot lead.  There is one other short small harness made from a shrink sleeved component and two wires coming out of each end, Autoleads instruction booklet makes no mention of this lead at all.  HELP.

The place where the traffic master switch should be is just a blanking plate, so I assume no traffic master.

When I fitted a parrot kit in mine the trafficmaster loom wasn't wired up to pass the phone mute line up to the head unit.
Everything worked but audio wasn't passed to the head unit. I cured it by modifying the loom but as TM is being switched off the easiest way would be to remove the TM loom from the back of the radio.
May be worth popping your radio out and removing the TM adapter loom to test it.
Hope you have your radio code.

Thanks guys. So I can just chuck the saab lead away, one problem solved.  Is it definite there will be a TM loom fitted, when there is no switch, or is it a possibility. The original owner tells me there was no switch from new, he did not want the TM option.

Don't know tbh but it sounds a similar problem to the one I had which was caused by the TM loom behind the radio.
Wondering if it was fitted but the TM box and switch not.

Found a bit of time today to remove the radio and tin can, the only thing that is attached to the radio is a one piece blue coloured plug of three sections. I was expecting to see this piggy backed onto a TM plug and harness, but it goes straight into the radio.  I presume therefore that no TM harness is fitted.  Where do I go from here to mute the  radio and receive incoming calls. I suppose it's worth contacting Parrot.

Everything turned out simple in the end thanks to comments by Parrot Tech.  Just attach SOT109 to adapter above the glove department, plug parrot into other end of SOT Harness, you cant make mistakes as everything is keyed. The yellow fly lead from the SOT harness which is the mute wire from radio and can be proven by attaching a test bulb to it and grounding is attached to the yellow with silver tracer fly lead coming out of the black parrot box connecter, and hey presto it works. Mute wires labelled 123 and all the spare connectors are not used.
