Alarm Issue
« on: 02 July 2012, 15:01:41 »

Sorry if someone has already posted a similar problem up, but basically the alarm goes off by itself, it goes on for a bit, then stops then goes off again. It did that all night, and even when i left the car unlocked it carried on doing that. I was kinda too tired to investigate at 4Am in the morning so i just let it do whatever it wanted to till this morning. Had a look everything seems to be fine, but then again im not too sure LOL. Also this morning when i was about to go do a bit of shopping the alarm went off again and even after i fired the car up, it wouldnt stop. So i reved the engine a bit and it stopped.

Can anyone suggest anything that i should check before i start ripping things off and replacing ?

AS far as I know its same for all. Mine is 2.6 cd and I took the powersounder out on sat. 5 min job and theres been no problem since. Its up to you if you want to replace the batteries or just get a new one to put in. I'm not really bothered about putting one back in, car is going perfect without it  :y

Theres a page on here somewhere but from memory theres 2 different types, I think 1 is around £69 while the other is around £169. Im sure some of the other members will be able to advise better.

As said, sounds like powersounder failing.  This needs to be removed ASAP, as although uncommon, not unheard of for the things, when failed, to spontaneously combust, making a mess of your car.

Up to you if you fit a replacement. If you do, only buy a brand new one. 2nd hand ones will be on there last legs, and present the same fire risk.
