Having a loft clear-out
« on: 23 July 2012, 21:27:54 »

Scaffolding now up ready for a loft conversion. :y

I need to start sorting out all the junk I've been storing, for example:

*A mint Stuart Surridge cricket bat signed by the Essex CCC in 1984 (when they won the County Championship).
*365 comics of the Wizard, Tiger, Scorcher genre (i.e Roy of the Rovers) dated between 63 and 79
*A pair of ridiculously long skis (by current fashion anyway at 210cm!)...set for the skip sadly.
*Two old metal trunks.
*Original Software packaging (e.g Word for Windows, etc!)

and the list goes on.

The trouble is I have nowhere to store things now, so some harsh decisions beckon.  :(

Get yerself on eBay! The fact that it's been sitting there all this time means you don't need it  :)

I'm not a hoarder, me  ;D

Aah Nick, some of those titles bring back memories of better times for me.

Ebay, one mans junk is another mans treasure.

When we moved abroad Mrs V said lets have a clearout. I was and still am a hoarder. We sold loads of stuff. Good fun too. We do regret one or two sales . One was an antique foot square biblical scene tile which would have looked great set into one of our walls but now resides in Iceland.

My tip is be prepared to sell worldwide. More work getting postage cosrts but more value realised.

Better times for both of us, Den! We were YOUNG and knew little of life's complexities that were awaiting us.  ;)

I've thought about using eBay but the one thing that puts me off is estimating the postal charges. Short of packaging each item then checking at the Post Office, how does one work it out?  ???

Thanks, Vamps.  :y I thought postage was charged on dimensions rather than weight these days - must have got the wrong end of the stick somewhere. I never post parcels!   ;)

That might be the case with some carriers, but I only ever used the post office and all on weight, even posted a Guitar, books are relatively dear to post for, often, an item with little value....... :y  Not sold much recently, just buying.. ::) ::)
