vauxhall garage
« on: 17 April 2008, 19:52:12 »

i couldnt believe the state of the police vectras i see this morning at vauxs. 5 of them not older than 2 yrs old. the amount of faults on the sheets on the passengers seat was shocking.  :o

1 had half the dashboard broken away.
1 looked like it was used for a food bin, and 2 tyres had hardly any tread on them at all.

mines in better condition and its 10 yrs older.

This would serve as a warning against buying an ex-police car.
Not exactly one careful driver! :-/

Unfortunately what you saw was symptomatic as to the state of modern Policing and by no means untypical. Remember it the next time you see some pious Chief Constable on the TV talking down to and spouting a load of crap out of his mouth to the public.   :'(

....A bit like forum posters, by and large.

Most are clever enough to realise that not all easily pilloried public figures are representative of the rank and file .....    ::)

Sounds similar to the state of our vans at work.
The difference is yours is your pride and joy (as it should be) the police car like our vans can be used by any driver in the station/depot and are used and abused as a means of getting a job done.
I'm sure if you lent your car out to all the neighbours in your street it would soon resemble one of those youve seen today.

Exactly, if he can't look after a mates gear he has borrowed, how do you think he would treat the firms car/van.

In my last job I had a company van and was usually the only person to drive it apart from very rare occasions. The same  applied to all the other drivers there as we took the vehicles home and could use them privately aswell as in our work. Some of the blokes couldn't even be bothered to get tyres changed, servicing done etc although it cost them nothing and the vehicles could even be picked up/dropped back at our houses for this!
