Cam belt & rollers?
« on: 20 August 2012, 16:25:16 »

Making a horrible clattering noise under bonnet, sounds like the front end :(

Cam belt and tensioners changed 10,000 miles ago.

When it cools down, I'm going to disconnect the aux. belt.

Aux belt tensioner and bearing changed 4,000 miles ago.

Doesn't sound good :(

When I had this, (on the 2.2) was the waterpump, same thing only about 10k old. But it was making a horrible noise when just turned manually when removed...

Hopefully when you disconnect the aux belt, it will sound sweet  :)

The good news is, the noise disapears when I remove the aux belt.

Sounds like water pump.

Anyone available in the West Midlands area to help me fit a new one please?

Can you feel any roughness in the water pump pulley by hand (or any of the other ancillaries, for that matter?).

Still, a result that the cam belt is OK (especially considering the muppets who fitted it). :-X
