Scotland to join the Euro
« on: 12 September 2012, 17:53:09 »

If Scotland votes for independence in a referendum, they will have to apply to join the EU and would almost certainly have to make a commitment to join the Euro.

Not true, as I understand it.  The 'EUspokesperson' has since done an about turn, as far as I heard on the news on the way home tonight.

.. and if they joined schengen either the rest of the UK would have to follow suit or we'd have to rebuild Hadrian's Wall. ;)

I think an EU commission lawyer, giving his legal view has just blown a big under the waterline hole in the SNP's independence ship.  ::) ::) ::)

Im not usually a betting man,but I might visit a bookies shop and lay down a few quid on them voting to stay in the U.K. ;)
All this "proud independent nation" talk as well & good, but it doesnt pay for free Universities or prescriptions.
Im a unionist by tradition, but I do believe that the U.K. has to have a level playing field for all four countries, and if that isnt going to happen we should all go our seperate ways. Retaining the status quo shouldnt be an option imo.

Free vote for every British passport holder. One passport equals one vote. The voting document would be quite specific including NOT having sterling, paying their share of the National debt off, free rent of nuclear sub bases, paying back the bill of settlement ( £400B at todays rates?), no sharing DVLA, etc etc. Own foreign embassies, own air traffic control. The list is actually very, very long.

If the result was Scotland to leave the UK then we could restore Hadrians Wall to its former glory using the unemployed and prison inmates. Lartge wanted posters (with a bounty) could be displayed with a reward for the traitors who have had the temerity to suggest and support independence. Tower of London could be pressed back into active use. That should boost UK tourism.

OR common sense should prevail and the UK stays united and has common policies :y

Doing that puts us into our own time..GMT.....rather than our current BST...... :)

Hadrian's wall is still there, just needs building a bit higher....... :D :D

As has been said, I think we should simply remain as we are, showing a passport in Bradford is one thing but in Berwick it just does not seem the same...... :D :D :D

Can't see what all the fuss is about!  ::)  The Scots can have independence if they want it, and they can have the UK's EU membership as a leaving pressie!!  :)  :-*
