DTi owners brain picking
« on: 05 October 2012, 17:23:24 »

I've had the exhaust manifold off today and while removing it I noticed there are 5 branches to it which surprised me as its a 4 pot. So when I removed the manifold it looks like the rear branch is for the exhaust gases to pass through the head to the EGR valve. Can anyone confirm that. Anyway i've blocked it off and if it works i'll look at welding up the manifold to make it a bit more permanent

I've read in so many places that you can't block the EGR on the 2.2 diesel though ::)

May I ask for what reason it can't be blocked off?

I would think because of its position. I hope it works then I can keep my flaps clean ;D

I've read a few times that the egr can't be blocked off on the 2.2 dti.  I'll be very interested to see how you get on Pete, and if blanking it off throws up any error codes.  :y

It's been a while since I had my 2.0 DTi but maybe the turbo is plumbed into the egr pipework somewhere?
The turbo's are variable vane so it might be best not to upset it... :y
