Ive always liked skoda's  , even the the old tub ones that had the engine in the boot . My mate use to take us to work in a rear engine one and it was errm different but fun  Alas he never maintained it and blew the engine running it without water or any servicing . Rapide i think it was called .

Not exactly "aptly named" either. My cousin has a kit car based on one. With practically all the bodywork removed it still doesn't set the world alight.

I wonder if it's a trait they continued with the "Superb".

I can just about remember there existance tho i was young at the time so not much more than an aknowledgement of their existance back then for me  I think the octavia saved them if i'm right? Anyways not long back from picking it up, enjoyed it so far, comfy and surprisingly quick

Indeed. Drive at the right end, plenty of weight over the driven wheels. IIRC the engine overhangs the back a bit, so might be a bit lively in a 911 kind of way, but not so much power, so perhaps not as deadly when the engine decides it'd rather be at the front?

I bet they were breathed-on a bit, though. By way of tuning, IIRC, the Alfa boxer engines will bolt on.
