you may put some weight on as your metabolism will slow down as a non smoker also ciggys act as an appetite suppressant make sure that if you nibble food as an alternative to smoking that its low fat, low sugar. If you do put on weight don't worry about it, one step at a time deal with the smoking when you've cracked that turn your attention to any weight you may put on remember smoking is a lot worse for your health than carrying a few extra pounds

Marie, I stopped smoking 14 days 23 hours and 17 minutes ago, I love smoking and have smoked for 26 years, I am on patches and nicotine gum.

I went to the GP after a week to get the patches on prescription, IT IS BLOODY HARD, there is not one hour of the day that i don't want a fag, but stick with it, if you read up on nicotine addiction on the Internet some sources say that it is equivalent to coming off an A class drug.

I switched to Silk Cut silver (very mild) for a few months, went on a diet (lost two stone) and then gradually cut down from 30 a day to 10, I then stopped, don't know if i will last out but i am trying.

If you have not smoked you have not got a clue what its like quitting, and the money was not a problem as my mate travels to Greece 5 times a year so never paid more than £2 a packet.

I actually feel worse now i have quit, cant sleep cough is bad and a few other things.

On a lighter note i have 26 cigarette lighters and 46 boxes of matches for sale if anyone wants them.

Best of luck

i can remember feeling just like that ,but now i never ever think about smoking,it took me 25 years and i never thought i would see the day when i wouldnt want a ciggy, but it does come.i can remember telling this to my favourite uncle when i saw him in ireland last year.he was a heavy smoker and i was trying to encourage him to give up . he was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year and died last week at the age of 58.his first grandchild is due to be born in the next couple of weeks. :(

W.R.A.C,  (warm, round and cuddley !) sounds nice !!!!!!!!

I tried to give up a few times, but it didn't work. However I woke up one morning, mouth tasted like sh*t, and I thought "thats it, no more" and I stuck to it, for the last 30 years.
Its worth it, I see people walking around, younger than me, who I doubt will last me out, plus you will be able to see your kid (s?) grow up and get  married etc.

its strange ,but i found that it seems impossible, but suddenly your head is in the right place and it becomes easier, which might prove that it is all in the mind, even if we dont understand why.  :-/

If it was easy many, MANY, more would give it up -- but stick with it -- worth it in the long run

I switched to Silk Cut silver (very mild) for a few months, went on a diet (lost two stone) and then gradually cut down from 30 a day to 10, I then stopped, don't know if i will last out but i am trying.

Still a tenner a week saved -- spend it on the mig!

I actually feel worse now i have quit, cant sleep cough is bad and a few other things.

Bad sleep is withdrawal, bad cough is the fact that your lungs are trying to get rid of the muck they have collected. The little hairs that filter out dust etc are paralysed when you smoke -- they are recovering and now trying to shovel out all sorts !!

On a lighter note i have 26 cigarette lighters and 46 boxes of matches for sale if anyone wants them.

Try selling them outside the airport -- to those that had theirs confiscated at the other end !

Best of luck

Frank

Keep it up all of you  :y
