Actually, aren't Sky dishing out even shittier (if thats possible) Thomson routers, or is that O2?

We build our own, no netgear no Thompson. Been that way for some time  ;)
I see so many, I do get them all mixed up occasionally ;D

Who did Uncle R buy to make routers, so I know what its based on.

Not purchased anyone, designed & built in-house  :)

Or so we are told, they may have asset stripped someone, but officially we are told its in house design.
LOL, thats like BT insisting that they designed their homehubs, though everyone knows they are Huawei and Technicolor productions, with BT just giving the design spec for the middleware.

Know what chipset they've based it on? Certainly seems to be lots of requirements to restart the routers regularly, a la Thomson/Netgear junk.

Mind you, most are using reference designs from the likes of Lantiq, with their firmware, and a rebranded web interface.

Sky do not show loyalty to existing subscribers.

Leave for 13 months, then rejoin (if you miss it).

If you can't live without it, ring them and threaten to leave, see what they say.

All available on demand still  :)
Some of us don't have a fast enough BB connection for the full OD service ;)

Actually, that's a little unfair... I've not actually tried yet as I can't be bothered to connect the box to the router ::)

I need to either get a wireless bridge and connect the box, TV and BlueRay player (may as well wire the Wii into it too ::)) or start running the cat5 and do it properly ::)

That's true I am spoilt with my 20mbit connection.

Keep an eye out of Infinity :)
Just 20Mbps? Thats not a connection ;D

It won't happen any time soon... I live in the middle of nowhere ;) I'm having enough trouble getting the line fault reported on the 24th of last month fixed ::) Current update is that it should be fixed by tonight but who knows? ::)
Did I mention I have 2 FTTC based lines here :P

My exchange isn't even LLU yet ::)

I thought there was going to be an improvement when they replaced all the lines recently (or I assume that's what they were doing with the long stretches of roadworks) but it just got worse ::)

How much financial support does OOF get from Sky, in exchange for this promotional stuff?

 ???
You'd expect Uncle R could buy us a new server or 2 ;D

I'd've thought so. This "I'm doing you a favour"  free advertising rather taints the site IMHO.
I think it falls the right side of the rules, because tunnie (presumably) makes nothing from it, but is able to pass on valuable discounts to those that can make use of the offers.

As much as I dislike Sky, many members here have found it very useful to have access to these discounts.

So I don't see it as "advertising" for Uncle R, I see it as discounts for our members who wish to take up the offers :y

Does that make sense?

I agree - i have benefitted from Tunnies' kind turn and so have others. He does not gain from it and members do. It is like someone posting up a voucher code for a discount from a retailer or someone posting that aldi are doing half price chrome exhaust tips.

All this technology and monthly outlay to access over 900 channels,at least 895 of which are utter shite. ;D
I must admit to having SKY,but a basic package* - which once upon a time cost £12pm but now costs around £25. ::)
I think its pretty decent of Tunnie to take the time to make these offers available to OOFers tbh. :y

*Definitely not 3D.I have never knowingly even seen what HD looks like yet. ;D

For the record, I get entered in to competitions if I refer people.

I've given discounts for a number of people, so far I've saved OOF members in excess of £1.5k

Some have contacted me with very, very poor installs, due to contractors. I have raised it internally, got people out within days & had the installs done right.

Recently I do get some vouchers but I need to refer a number of people, I've also been PMd a number of times asking when I get more discounts.

So I like to think I'm doing a good thing, as I save people a considerable amount of money.

You don't have to read my threads, if you are not interested in Sky then why read?
