Cam Belts
« on: 27 October 2006, 19:05:45 »

Ive just had various quotes to have the Alfas cam belt and tensioners done. From a main dealer over £1000 :o and from a specialist £450 :o so the Omegas are not that expensive after all.

Anyone fancy a crack at an Alfa Cambelt ::)

When these engines are designed, dont they ever consider the fact that some poor bast**d is going to have to work on them someday. Roll on the day day when cars become cheap consumables that get slung after about 20000 miles :(

What?? Those prices for the 4 cylinder lump!  :o

It is a swine to do as the engine is mounted the wrong way and the front of the engine is mounted too damn close to the drivers wing making access... challenging!

But those price for doing a twin cam are silly!

THere is a huide one one of the Car mechanics magazines on how to. I will search tomorrow and if i can find it i will post it to u. It is pretty easy, of course you will need a full set which is cambelt roller tensioner, balancer shaft belt and cam variator and rocker gasket.

Hi Paul Kev gave me a good quote but you need a special tool to do the job which Kev hasn't got so by the time I have bought the tool it made it almost as expensive as the specialist in Wrectum sorry Wrexham so its booked in there on Monday morning.
