I think that was AFTER the towpole incident.  Before that it was  "nothing" ...  :)

Wanted to say indignation at being left in Milton Keynes ::) but as that isn't on the list, I've gone with brake pull ::) given where it broke down :y

The car has been intermittently a poor starter for about 2 or 3 weeks. Always started, but needed to turn over longer before firing.

So its been on the Tech2 a few times, but nothing ever showing apart from an occasional 55 - replace ECU.

The first time, the idle trims were hard over to 255, and resetting the trims seemed to cure the poor starting, for about 10 days.


Anyways, at the NEC, she couldn't get it started, so up I go. She told me it wasn't turning over. Upon arrival, it actually turns over OK, but not firing, either on petrol or forced on LPG.

As I was told it wasn't turning over, I went up with just the jack, and a towpole (plus the 150pc Halfords set to undo propshaft). So plan A was to just tow it home. Until she bent the towpole. Which forced a rethink. What can stop a V6 starting on petrol or LPG? An HT problem should allow it to fire. No obvious blown fuses. Has to be cranksensor. Fortunately, I always carry a spare. So pop it on, car starts on the nail :).  Quickly reattach propshaft, drive home.  Still need to rerun the wire a bit better (was done in a hurry in the dark in the cold).


So, well done to all that said cranksensor :y

Any suggestions as to why there were no fault codes shown on Tech II? When my CSS last failed, even thought the EML didn't light, it still flashed up code 19 on a paper clip test  :-\ :-\

i KNEW it would be crank sensor......    it's been TOO long since i seen someone post about a failure....     (note that my vote was CS all along....  )
