Exhaust manifold 4 pot
« on: 21 November 2012, 19:49:34 »

Evening guys, I thought car has some noisy tappets issue but found exhaust manifold leaking. It gets better when engine warms up but it's calling for replacement.
I wouldn't like welding it couse that's just a temporary solution.
New part costs 170 euros here so....what would be suitable price for a good 2nd hand manifold?
Thanks in advance, Stan

Welding often works for long enough that its worthwhile.

I wouldn't be paying more than £20-£30 for a 2nd hand one from the local scrappy. In fact, I reckon it would be £10

I wonder what it would cost to send you the one in my shed?  All it needs is a face-flattening skim.

I have a feeling it would be more exensive than anything you could get locally even though I'd only want enough to cover the postage.  :-\

I believe you're right. Please don't considere it greedy from me but I'll try to find shipping costs for it because I won't find any good where I live. All omegas are much over 200 k/miles here and hoping to find manifold without crack is nonsense, really ....
What's the weight of it? From 5 to 10 kg?

6Kg, call it 6.5 by the time it's carefully packed.  PM me if you find a suitably cheap way to get it to Slovenia.

A quick look on google suggests that it could be surprisingly cheap:

Parcelforce - Euro Priority £22.99 + VAT

Less than £30 total!  :o

Hi i am not wishing to high jack your thread so please excuse me for jumping on the bandwagon, but i have the same problem and have had for the best part of two years. Was told to seek out getting it helicoiled but had no takers, so going on your ideas would there be anyone out there willing to weld it.
Of course payment would be met, and getting it done localy-ish would be helpful.  :y :y

I had the same problem with a leaky manifold and it caused me untold suffering every morning as the car had a permament cold start. I then had the manifold gaskets replaced and all is perfect now...car start with one kick
