Yep, snow as Del stated earlier fell today down this way.
I just went 17 miles this morning on lightly snow covered roads, or just slush, and sure enough there was a young woman who had just "parked" her car into a ditch!!
Why is it a bit of snow and................slip, slide, bang, and things happen when really there was just no need. Drive carefully, considering the road surface / temperature, and all should be safe. But no, so many are just not prepared.

Only (us) old fogies seem to drive to the conditions these days - (young) people now grow up with cars with ABS, traction control, stability control, electronic brake force distribution, lane guidance, automatic emergency braking etc etc etc and, I'm pretty sure, all those tools give them the feeling that they can drive as they always do, regardless, and let the electronics 'catch' them if they stumble..
While those of us who are older probably vividly remember throwing their first car off the road into a ditch due to an over abundance of ambition and lack of talent with no electronics to save us..

(Granted my first incident was at 5mph on ice, so no electronics would have saved me once my diesel Metro was pirouetting down Pocklington Industrial Estate

ABS & EBD would have saved me the next summer, though, when I threw the same Metro into a ditch at 70..)
