Did I hear right??
« on: 02 May 2008, 14:34:56 »

There might be something on here about this already but I couldnt see anything. Had telly on late wednesday night and was drifting off to sleep with the news on. Could of sworn I heard them say something about ALL V6's being in the £440 a year road tax bracket rather than the after 2001's??

Was I dreaming????

Thank god for that. But I still feel REALLY SORRY for all the guys with the newer motors. N the way petrol is going I think spain is calling. Got two sisters who live out there and their husbands own a building maintenance business. Petrol is 59p a litre.  :o No road tax, MOT every two years and bins emptied every day including  sundays. And A free sun tan. BONUS!!!!  8-)

Sorry. Just noticed Im in general help. Can mods move to general chat please.  :)

Wonder if the brabus V6 smart car would be affected? That would be a bit of a downer considering it's only 1.4L  ;D

My feeling is Ill keep my 2000 omega and when something vital goes engine - box etc buy a 2001 + model ( they will obviosly be dead cheap in a year or twos time ( unless of course you delight in paying HMG £450 per annum just to keep it on the road) strip the car of any useful parts and sell the remainder to a scrappers for disposal

Try the citreon c5 08 onwards  2.0l 16v  only £550 per annum sir to put it on the queens highway - wonder if anyone has bought one recently ?

550 quid for a 2.0??? That is feking robbery.

I could understand if it was that price for a 4.0, but for a 4 pot that is taking the pi$$

I heard this aswell, that they would be doing away with this, I work in an Audi garage and there has been quite a buzz about this, although what I heard is that it will apply from Jan. '09.

Don't think that is true.

I just worked out the VED rates for my 2.6V6 for the coming years (Yep, it's taken this long for me to face the depressing truth!):  :(

Currently taxed at £190, due Nov 08.

If the VED had been left unchanged, I could keep the car on the road until November 2012 for £760 (3 x 190, from November 2008).

But, now those robbing gits Brown/Darling have been on the case, it will cost me £1,105:  >:(

March 2008-2009: £210
March 2009-2010: £440
March 2010-2011: £455

So, as a result of the budget, the extra money I need to find over the next four years is £345. Not good, in fact bloody appalling, but I'm not going to give up my super barge for that amount!
