Handle to glove box completly missing
« on: 04 January 2013, 16:33:11 »

Need to know how to open my glovebox as the complete handle is missing, made the mistake of lending my car for a week to son in law, he remembers the handle coming off but not what he did with it, all I have left is a hole with what looks like a piece of plastic channel at the back, any help greatfully needed as I dont want to break the glovebox door, thanks Andy :(

That'll learn you ::)

Iirc, Gently push down on the bar at the top of the hole and it should pop open :y

Don't force it though :y

I've got the same thing, but if I stick my finger in there's a thing that I can push towards the passengers' door that opens it.

 . . . but this doesn't really help you to actually fix it I suppose    ???

Actually I'm wrong,  :-X  I just went out to check. ex taxi all is right

Tried to push bar down but it won't move, how much pressure is too much or is there another way of opening the glovebox, thanks Andy

Push the glovebox closed then try the bar :y that way you'll take the weight of the lid off the catches :y

Try also pushing and or lifting the bar. without one apart in front of me I can't recall which way it goes :-[

Had a look at mine this morning the catch broke off ages ago but it is easy to open. Inside the hole is a piece vertical plastic insert finger behind it and pull towards you.  :y :y

The only reason I've not replaced the catch is that it stops SWMBO filling the glove box with rubbish which I had to remove to get to the handbook and other important stuff etc ::)

Why not go the whole hog and get the Passenger Door welded up.  ;)
