From your link:
"the fact remains that the start of the crisis was a result of irresponsible borrowing by households"

What a crock.  The start of the crisis was a result of irresponsible lending to households.  Obviously.  Could the banks not have said "no, you're a bad risk, go away"?
  ::)

It's both.

Why is it, that in society, we, as the human race, have this in-built ability to always blame to corporation, the big boys, the faceless. Yes, for sure, there was bucket loads of irresponsible lending, but that must mean there was a lot of irresponsible borrowing.
So as usual, Joe Bloggs does not have to think and take responsibility for his own life. He can let others make his decisions for him....... then giving him a license to blame them when is goes wrong.
Oh, and Joe Bloggs might even work for a large financial institution himself. Irony? Maybe.

I get just a tad sick of this "let me sit back and blame everybody and everything for everybody and everything that is wrong in life"

Seems entirely justified to blame the corporation in the context of this matter.

Who should be better able to judge the risk/benefit analysis of a loan; the lender - who's educated, trained, and 9-5 employed to make sound/profitable/not-unduly-risky decisions in this area - or the man on the street?

exactly, they're normally bloody socialists anyway who don't take personal responsibility and like to blame everyone and everything else, and if it's something like a bank or big company well that's even better for them!

right and wrong..  saying I'm a socialist doesnt make you a socialist.. I have never seen this word abused in any country more than UK .. :-\

That is tame compared with what the socialists call us capitalists, the abuse from the left towards right wing views in this country is vicious and spiteful with many unjustified personal insults and even death threats. :(

You tend to stir up a complete hornets nest if you disagree with their views on higher taxes, bigger Government, the climate change and green religions and whatever you do don't mention the word 'profit' :( :o

Telling some people the CO2 warming doesn't exist is like tell somebody with strong religious beliefs that God doesn't. Even though the world hasn't warmed up for the last 16 years, it doesn't comply with their beliefs, so mustn't be considered.  :o :o :o :o

Yep,just ask Johnny Ball or David Bellamy. Not only have they been unofficially banned from appearing on TV* for disagreeing on MMGW,but both of them have had whispering campaigns against them that they werent to be trusted around young children by the Climate zealots.
That imo is when you can be sure these people are power crazy, with an unseen agenda, and are not confident of their own views. >:(

*Ball recently appeared on Strictly come dancing, bit I assume they thought he wasnt going to brainwash anyone or damage kids while doing that. ::)

Bit like Lord Reith freezing out Churchill from the BBC where they hated each other. Britain with Churchill's warnings would have probably been better prepared in 1939 than they were, if he had been allowed to address the people.

But, Churchill got his own back in the end by passing the legislation to create ITV and break the BBC's broadcasting monopoly.  :y :y :y :y
