LPG tank is made from thick steel.Your petrol tank is made from plastic. If you have a look at pics of LPG installs done properly (Lazydocker style) you can hardly notice anything different under the bonnet. ;)
about 5mm thick :D has to be as its a pressure vessel-you want to lift one up-you bust a gut mate-really heavy :y

 ;D

Didnt realize they were that thick and heavy  :) Kind of like a gas bottle construction then .

3.0 here but lpg , like it . Something i would look at if i was looking again  :y http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201301295106451/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/model/omega/make/vauxhall/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/1500/postcode/nn171hu/page/1?logcode=p

mmm LPG WITH UNDERFLOOR TANK

Not sure how that would work TBH, I'd be making sure it is on the LPG Register already, and what size tank it has ...

Arrh missed that bit , was too busy looking at the pictures  :-[ ::) Is that bad then ?

LPG in an estate WILL have an underfloor tank, there's nowhere else to put it, sensibly.

Estate equals limited tank size and range. Probably about 170 miles ish.

Unless your Lazydocker, and fit a deeper tank giving 230 odd miles range, then raise the floor to match.;)

It was/is, IMHO, the only sensible option. Fitting a cylinder in estate just defeats the object of having an estate IMHO :y

No argument at all .. but the question still remains .. the car being discussed is a SALOON ... just where do you out an "underfloor" tank and what size could it be ?? - ON A SALOON !!!

Agreed, although the linky no worky any more... Been sold ;)

In fact, I don't see any possible way to fit an underfloor tank on a saloon, no matter what the size is :-\

Remove plastic tank, replace with a donut tank and make a stainless petrol tank to fit the space :-\

Not cheap, and therefore unlikely, but...

You don't have to buy it :-\
true but I'm on the look for a 3.2, And its annoying when their so overpriced when i do find one :(
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-VAUXHALL-OMEGA-ELITE-V6-AUTO-SILVER-/140916198105?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20cf428ad9
yeah I've seen this one but having a rebuilt engine put me off and he isn't helpful at all on the phone, not worth the 400+mile round trip  :-\
when i bought mine it was a 250 mile trip full history >:( ,the description was good everthing, got there still good, got it home time to do some work! needed cambelt, water pump, cam gaskets, full service, was it worth it,i still think so and then i got it how i wanted it, so if you want it take a punt and go for it, 3.2 are getting rare,so its had a bit of work, there are members in northampton who might come and have a look with you if your unsure, but its a good price to start at and go down a bit :)
Gave another call but its hard to talk to someone who doesn't speak very good English must be a foreigner of some sorts with a name like Jakub Tomczyk, But i managed to get a bit more info and apparently when he says engine rebuild he means two headgascets have been replaced that's all and the belts werent even changed and all this was done in December 2012 so why would he be selling it so soon if it didn't have problems. Not worth the miles for me to risk. The last 3.2 i went to see was is Derby a black "52" elite and he was Polish engine knakered by the sounds of itand the body work full of key scratches dents paint flaking off etc.

I bet he did all that and didn't check the oil cooler ::)

Would still struggle to get sufficient ground clearance unless a skid plate was fitted too ;) Even Zafira's are borderline with under slung tanks according to COP 11 ;)

3.2's are rare these days, and mv6 rarer still and Irmshcer ones are gold dust.
