Despite what some are saying, it **MUST** be changed.  The low miles turn the oil slightly acidic, and it will also trap a lot of moisture. As I'm sure you can imagine, this isn't great for the engine.
convinced..will change. I suppose at 16 it still deserves to be treated as if it was 2.

I have just bought my son a 1998 Astra1.6 for peanuts with a "rattly camshaft" as diagnosed by the garage. The car has 38,000 miles from new and spent its early years in Jersey and then with an old person in Bournemouth.

Oil was black as black and and could have been original for all I know. Anyway quick oil and filter change and hydraulic lifters now nice and quiet even from cold start after a week standing while we where on holiday.

As others have said, I would change it too. That oil would have been either sat for long amounts of time or short trips, going by such low miles. So fresh oil would go down well  :y

Besides it costs so little to do an oil change, especially if DIY  :y
