sounds like me with my site... was hosted with 1&1 business package, cost like £130 a year or there abouts... was terrible

now hosting at home myself, along with another forum for the course im on at uni...

altho my domain is still locked with 1&1 as my ip is dynamic  >:(

Not sure where the Domain is now, it was also still locked with HostingUnlimited/Incapable but , may now have moved.

There are plans to move to another host as and when we can find a good reliable one.

I was recommended to ASO (www.asmallorange.com) but being in america, they will have a high-ish latency compared to UK hosts, but from what I've read up, there customer support is second to none!

ive tweaked my LAMP setup a fair bit tho on my home server, got page loading times down to an average of 0.09 seconds... which is nice!

Domain is in process of being moved away from Hosting Unlimited. We've lost all confidence in them. No services provided by HU, as we've moved website and DNS elsewhere.

Forum is currently hosted on a Redhat Enterprise Linux vm, running on VMWare GSX (had issues with VM Server), running on a W2k3 host.  Internet connectivity via Zen Internet.

Slowdowns are possible due to limited bandwidth, and this bandwidth is shared for other purposes. However, they should be short duration now I hope, as I think we may have got to the bottom of the Redhat performance issues...
