Insurance company's ..?
« on: 15 May 2008, 13:44:13 »

Anyone had any dealings with "Elephant" ??

They are coming up much cheaper than anyone else for my Insurance ... the Bodykit/LPG seems to be a reason to load me lots..

I've not had any dealings with them, or heard of anyone who has...

Unless you know of any other insurance places to go ..... I've spent 4 hours at the comparison sites/telephone quotes already .... :(

Doing my head in ... and I've got to do it all again for SWMBO car as well :(

Have you used http://www.gocompare.co.uk?

They were considerably cheaper than any other comparison site.
I'm insured with http://www.ibuyeco.co.uk. They were quite cheap and can cope with modified vehicles without loading the premium considerably! On top of that they offset your car's estimated carbon footprint with donations to green causes so you'll be carbon neutral  :y :y I think the offsetting is still free too!!

Just my 2p worth!  :y :y

elephant will be cheap fir the first year then it goes up, mine and brother in laws did,
every year another years no claims and the premium went up until it was double what i could get elsewhere, but now i have left i could go to them as a new customer and get a good deal , it seems they offer you a good price to get you then after it just increases, they wanted over £800 for renewal on my miggy with 4 years no claims yet i got it with onequote direct for less than £400

Pain in the A**e all of them.

I have been getting quotes for the last 2 weeks since buying the Elite.

Pressent comapny said they could mirror the NCB and all policy benfits to a second car.  Pay £24 month for the 2.5 GLS (Policy started in December)  Same car starting today save approx £60 PA, so the time of policy start does make a diiference)

Went on a comparison site.  £228.50 For the GLS and £239.50 For the 3.0 Elite.  Go to set the policy up after all the FSA messages etc, and being told they dont want to lose me as a customer.  So they then try me for £411 for the Elite and £569 for the GLS bearing in mind there is no NCB to add to it but I was supposed to be getting the NCB mirrored.

Loadsa calls later and a call to admiral (they wont discount and say cheaper online at sister site), explain the scenario to them, and the guy says go on the Elephant site and fill in 2 quotes for the cars and he will ring me the day after.  Long and short there is 2 x £300 quotes and he doesnt ring me back.

Any way, today there was a pop up for Admiral multiquote, tried them before, total joke.  Thought I might as well give a try.

Elite = £232.04
GLS  = £250.66

Total one off payment of £482.70

Excess of £150 for each car for Fire/Theft
Car hire cover
Windscreen £70 excess
Other ecess is £250/350 Elite/GLS

Am well chuffed, now (allthough paying up front) the GLS insurance is £48 cheaper for the year.

Saved 10% for 2 cars and the 8.5% premium tax and the GLS has 0% NCB to its name now.

Both cars have Legal Proctection etc and a Gauranteed cover on the NCProtection (more than 2 claims 0 loss) for the Elite.

Sorry for any bad spelling above, but like a new kid at last.  Had an Elite for nearly 3 weeks and not driven it, now I have the choice of 2 to drive.

My CDX renewal is up soon and I went on confused.com yesterday.

I was gobsmacked - quote for £133 TPFT from Post Office.   I must be getting old or summat!   (I'll know that for sure when Saga come up!)

I have used Elephant in the past and haven't had a problem.  What I do each year is use Elephant, Admiral and Bell for renewal quotes and pit them against each other.

The irony is that they're all sister companies within the Admiral group of companies.  It makes me laugh when I tell one of them I'm leaving to go to what is another insurance company that is part of Admiral.

My insurance has gone down each year for the last few years and my last renewal was about £250 fully comp, which includes two named drivers, full NCB and one of the named drivers having a no-fault claim.

Well, at the moment "Elephant" are winning by a good margin ... it seems the body kit makes the car "attractive" to theft which is why the premiums are higher .. the LPG no-one seems to care about !!!

The Admiral multi-quote is a non-starter as they will only do the same cover on both cars, and fully comp on a £1000 1996 clit seems a bit OTT  :)

Still waiting for 2 call backs

I used Elephant and they were by far the cheapest, yes the renewal came in a bit dearer but obviously you deal with the renewal next year.

I guess the key to how good an insurance compan yare is when you really need them, i.e a claim. I didnt have any claims.

They are part of the admiral group.

Has you quotes been for a 10 or 12 month policy?

i was with elephant for my first year and was well unhappy when re-newal came about, 1st year was a good £500 cheaper than anywhere else, next year was nowhere near the same value. however the twist was that the price they were offering for a 2nd year sounded cheaper but when you work it out for the 12 months it was the same as anyone other company with 1yr NCB, but theres a twist! what they didnt tell me at the start was that no other insurer would accept there No Claim Bonus as it was only for 10 months and not a full year.

In the end i ended up writting them off as a "lesson learned" and went with adrian flux insurance.

I'd heard that one before.. so all quotes are 12 month policies  :)

But thanks for the heads up anyway .. :y :y
